IVG Membership

Membership of the IVG (2021-2025) offers you:

the opportunity to take part in the 2025 Congress in Graz or to give a presentation at the conference
the priority to participate in all events of the congress
receive up-to-date information about the conference and publications
and, as a member, to actively participate in the activities of the association and contribute to its organization

Requirements for membership

Membership of the IVG is open to anyone who has proven themselves in the field of German studies through academic work (e.g. doctorate) and in particular anyone who is involved in academic teaching. Applicants who are employed at a university are automatically members as soon as they have paid the membership fee (see "Fees").

Other applicants are requested to send an e-mail with the following information to ivg2025(at)uni-graz.at:

Admission is decided by the Presidium, in cases of doubt by the Committee. You will be informed by e-mail if your application has been approved and can then register or pay the membership fee (see Registration or Application). Membership will be activated upon receipt of the membership fee. The IVG Secretariat will then send confirmation of membership to the e-mail address provided. The membership fee cannot be paid in installments.

Fees:

Membership fee: EUR 120.

In justified cases, a reduced fee of EUR 100.- is charged for interested parties without a doctorate and in precarious employment.

The membership fee or the conference fee for non-members must be paid in full. If the financial institution you have instructed charges a transfer fee, this cannot be charged to the IVG, but must be borne by the member.

Please state both "IVG 2025" and your name in the reference field, for example "IVG 2025 SCHERR".

Membership will be activated upon receipt of the membership fee.

Please read the membership information above before registering!

To become an IVG member, you must first register (via the gray box on the left) here and then purchase your IVG membership (see below). The registration process is handled via the event management system of the University of Graz, so you have to "add your membership to the shopping cart" and sometimes the term "event" is used, please do not let this confuse you!

Detailed instructions for purchasing an IVG membership:
1. Please click on "Register" in the gray box on the left. Then select your person type and click on "Continue". Then fill in the form with all the required data and click on "Send".
2. If you are not yet registered on the site, enter the details you selected under 1. in the gray box on the left-hand side of the page. Otherwise, click on "Add to shopping cart" below. On the page that then opens, you can initiate the payment process at the bottom. Please select the amount relevant to you from the drop-down menu.
